#1 Reason: Fecal Smell

The first think I would like to start by saying is that bearded dragons feces, have the worst smell out of all the pets I have ever had! The scent is very strong to have in any room. I had my bearded dragon in my bedroom and it stunk up my room so badly I had to put him in the basement. Even then, he would still stink that up too. The only place I would recommend keeping them would be in a shed, away from the house.

#2 Reason: The Mass Amounts Of Crickets

One of the worst things about owning a bearded dragon is have to buy so MANY crickets for my bearded dragon. When they are young they eat a load of crickets. My beardie used to eat almost 20 crickets per sitting. Now I would buy almost 200 crickets at once, and that would last him almost 2 weeks. That’s roughly $20 by-weekly. For an average teenager, that’s a lot of money to dish out just for the food, not to mention the calcium powder and vegetable a beardie also needs. But about the crickets, you have to keep them in a separate cage and also have to feed them too! So not only do you have to feed your bearded dragon, but you also have to feed the crickets just to keep them alive and nutritious.

#3 Reason: Lighting and Heat

Although many people say that bearded dragons are very easy to care for, they still have a lot of exceptions. Beardies need special lighting and heat. You will need to buy a very hot heat lamp that will produce a temperature of about 95 degrees on the hot side. At night you will also need a heat pad, for when the temperature is cooler. The worst part about it all, is that in the midst of getting the temperature right, you also have to make sure that the humidity is right or else it could have an effect on your bearded dragon. You have to constantly mist the cage to keep it right.
